Isle of Wight Heroes Con Unleashes Most Extensive Line-Up To Date

For the third consecutive year IW-Heroes Con will take place on the Star Wars anniversary — May the 4th.

IW-Heroes Con 3, which is run by Heroes comic book store in Newport, is a Comic Con style charity event held at the Quay Arts Centre in Newport.

The free to attend event takes place from 10am to 5pm, with a suggested donation of £2 on the door.

This year's event is community focused, showcasing Island artists with an art exhibition and meet and greet included.

Artists attending include Dan Digby, Andrew Sawyers, Andrew Porter, Adam Brown, Adam Gaterall and Faith Hills.

In the theatre during the morning, Caulkhead Comics will take to the stage to launch their charity comic book, containing the 20 winners from the comic art competition.

All profits from the sales of this comic will go to Barnardo's - Isle of Wight, Young Carers.

Each winner will be presented with a framed comic and certificate.

They will also be launching other comic books to promote their new action figures.

During the afternoon there will be a Gaming Contest, comic artist Q&A and the event's biggest Cosplay Contest to date with up to 50 entries and 9 categories.

Winners will be presented with Heroes gift bags, trophies and certificates.

There will various other activities taking place throughout the event.

The Quay arts Cafe will be open all day serving food and drinks with seating indoors and on the terrace, while a designated quiet room is in place upstairs for those wanting some down time.
