New Monthly Comedy Club Launches In Ryde

Ballyrags Comedy Club launched its first monthly ‘Third Thursday’ show last Thursday (April 18) at Bar 74 in Ryde, with the night deemed by all in attendance to be a roaring success.

Portsmouth comedian Matt Roseblade kicked off the show, with Islanders Polly Proud and Alex Toye before the interval, then Victorian Rapper Baron Fortitude after, and Welsh comedian Simon Emanuel bringing the evening to a close with a hilariously energetic performance.

The comedy club, which has been put together by Luc Valvona and Toby Brown, is already gaining excellent reviews on social media and is anticipating further growth with its stellar line-ups in store for the future.

Speaking after the event, co-founder and host, Toby Brown, said:

“I’m absolutely delighted with how it went and the feedback we’ve had so far, the acts were all excellent and the next show already looks amazing!”

Co-founder, Luc Valvona, also of the Isle of Wight School of Comedy said:

"It was so good to see Polly and Alex, two of my comedy students, go up on stage and hold their own with the professionals on their second and third gigs respectively.

"They absolutely smashed it — I was watching from the back with Simon (the headliner) and he reckons they'll go far."

The next gig is on May 16 with Tony Law (Never Mind the Buzzcocks, 8 Out of Ten Cats, BBC, Channel 4 & Comedy Central) headlining.

Ballyrags will be held every third Thursday of the month at Bar 74 on Union Street, further information can be found online.
