Wizard Week Returns To Steam Railway — Spookier Than Ever

The months of October and November are traditionally the time of ghosts and ghouls, witches and wizards.

This year, the Isle of Wight Steam Railway is pulling out all the stops to prepare a spooktacular welcome to families at its Wizard Week event.

From scary stories at the station to an enchanting experience on the train, the railway has it all covered.

Staff and volunteers at the railway love dressing up the trains and stations in a special theme and Wizard Week is no exception.

The team scoured the Isle of Wight for props such as old suitcases to dress the carriages, as well as festooning the trains with cobwebs and pumpkins.

Wizard Week runs from October 26 to November 1, and trains will be running every day during the week.

At the main station, visitors will be able to meet the friendly witches of Havenstreet, possibly be a spooky apprentice and help with some magic spells.

Greg Chapman will also be in the station yard telling terrible tales and mesmerising with amazing illusions while in the Barn Cafe there will be free magic shows from friendly wizard, Professor Crump.

Budding warlocks and witches can take the terrifying treasure hunt trail and explore the grounds before boarding the steam train where a crafty witch will be dealing out treats before passengers settle back for a journey through ‘haunted’ woodland.

Marc Morgan-Huws, Isle of Wight Steam Railway chief executive, said:

“Wizard Week is always a great occasion at the steam railway and we have made an extra effort this year to make it a truly special experience.”
