Wightlink Invites Applications For 2024 Sponsorship

Isle of Wight sports, arts and charity groups are being invited to apply for cross-Solent travel support through Wightlink’s sponsorship scheme.

The ferry company has a proud history of supporting Island clubs and groups dating back to 1987. Ryde Rowing Club was the first to receive its backing and Wightlink continues to sponsor the club.

The Wightlink in the Community sponsorship initiative is now welcoming applications from sports teams and clubs, along with groups involved in the arts and charities, for support in 2024.

It has a particular focus on helping those that enhance the quality of life for people on the Isle of Wight, especially young Islanders.

Wightlink currently provides discounted travel to 45 groups which regularly need to travel to the mainland for competition, events or training.

Wightlink’s Commercial Director Phil Delaney says:

“We are blown away by the passion and dedication of the Island’s sports clubs, arts groups and charities - travelling far and wide to compete, learn new skills and showcase their work.

“We are proud to play a part in supporting a diverse range of groups to provide opportunities to young people through their activities and help to put the Isle of Wight on the map.

"We look forward to receiving applications for 2024’s Wightlink in the Community sponsorship programme.”

Interested groups have until the end of October to apply and an application form can be found at www.wightlink.co.uk/sponsorship

As well as supporting groups, Wightlink provides discounted travel to around 80 individuals each year through the Isle of Wight Council Talented Athlete Scheme.

Applications open at the end of October, and details will be available at www.iow.gov.uk/sportsunit
