Ventnor Rugby Club Donates £400 To Team Teddy

Ventnor Rugby Club once more acted as a marshalling post and feeding station for the round-the-Island cycling Randonnee in early May.

As has become an annual tradition, the club has made a charity contribution from the monies taken and this year £400 is being donated to the Team Teddy (via The Lily Foundation).

Teddy Ward is a wonderful two-year-old boy who suffers from a rare life-limiting mitochondrial disease about which very little is known and the Lily Foundation are funding much needed research into the condition.

Teddy’s father, Dan Ward, is the physio for the Isle of Wight rugby club and he and some teammates are undertaking The Three Peaks Challenge in September in support of Team Teddy.

Here is the link for anyone who would like to read more about Teddy, mitochondria and to support this deserving cause.

Roly Toombs, Ventnor RFC’s Randonnee team organiser, said:

“We are delighted to make this donation to Dan, Jess and young Teddy.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the VRFC volunteers who worked so hard to participate in another highly successful Randonnee as well as the retailers on the Island who provided such proactive assistance to the cause – in particular Sainsburys and Norris Family Grocers in Niton”.
