Cherry Godfrey, WRS Systems, Café Isola, and Bembridge C of E Primary School were among those baking up a treat this May in aid of Wessex Cancer Support.
Wessex Cancer Support provides free, local and personalised emotional support to anyone affected by a cancer diagnosis.
The support centre in Lugley Street, Newport, has a plethora of free offerings, including counselling and therapies, to Islanders affected by cancer.
Meanwhile, the charity's Daisy Bus service taking Isle of Wight patients to their hospital appointments on the mainland is also a popular and free community lifeline. Both the bus and support centre is solely funded through donations and fundraising efforts.
Angie White, who has experience Wessex Cancer Support first hand held her own Cakes for Cancer event at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club;
“I have been overwhelmed by the support offered from friends, family, the Royal Victoria Yacht club and the Ryde Lawn tennis and croquet club.
“Wessex Cancer Support provided me with support and understanding through practical holistic guidance during a very difficult time.
The aim of my fundraising was to raise awareness of the treatments and support they provide so others will continue to benefit from the Newport support centre.”
Last week Angie visited the Newport Centre to count up the takings alongside Regional Fundraising Manager, Laura Haytack
The total raised was £3,029.
