Spring Rugby, Sailing And Netball Success For Ryde School

Ryde School finished the term with championship wins in sailing, rugby and netball.

Team sports at Ryde School have seen some brilliant wins over the last two weeks.

The U16 Rugby Sevens team secured the Hampshire Cup; one of the Ryde sailing teams scooped the title of the British Keelboat League (BKL) Schools’ Championships hosted by RTYC (Royal Thames Yacht Club) and the Ryde Netball team won the Embley U13 Netball Tournament.

The Hampshire Cup saw some very good rugby and a memorable day for the team who were crowned cup winners of the Hampshire U16 Sevens at Alton RFC.

With three sailing teams competing in the RTYC Championship, Ryde School went in strong and the “Ryde Black” team was a dominant force at the top of the results all the way through the event.

The teams competed against schools such as Royal Hospital School and Sherborne School, over 42 races in total, and often in tricky conditions.

The Embley Netball Tournament saw Ryde's U13 team play top quality netball over five matches against Portsmouth Grammar School, Portsmouth High School and Embley School among others.

This resulted in the Island school coming away the U13 Tournament victory.
