Newport's Snacks and Ladders Board Game Café will celebrate its fifth anniversary tomorrow (Saturday August 10).
Since opening its doors in 2019 at 66 St James Street, Snacks and Ladders has grown into a community hub where friends and families gather to enjoy eat, drink and enjoy board games!
Due to overwhelming support from the community and the need for a larger space, the company made the significant move in 2022 to a new location two doors down at the former Forget Me Not art store site.
The game library subsequently expanded from around 200 to over 850, with international brands sending in games to be showcased to visitors.
Shortly after opening, Snacks and Ladders was honoured with the Best New Business award, and has been named in the top three Best Small Attractions on the Isle of Wight for two consecutive years.
Additionally, Snacks and Ladders topped the list of Dicebreaker's Best Board Game Cafes in the Country and has maintained the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award for three years in a row.
"We are incredibly grateful to reach this 5-year milestone," said Chris Longhurst, co-owner of Snacks and Ladders.
"Thanks to our amazing team and the incredible support and encouragement of our friends and family, we’ve built a great place where people can escape from the real world for a while."
