Shanklin Regatta is celebrating some exciting news as it relocates for 2024.
In past years the regatta has always been held on Shanklin Esplanade on what was the old entrance to Shanklin Pier and the surrounding beaches.
However, now the committee has planned to move the event, 500 yards down the other end of the Esplanade, on what is affectionately known as the ”Stink Pot car park” at the bottom of Hope Hill.
Lyn Fleming, Chairlady of Shanklin Regatta, said:
“Shanklin Regatta is a fun filled free family day that is being held on August 8.
"Planning is well underway for the 2024 summer event, with some new plans and ideas such as a “market street style” for business and charities to trade from, a “food and drink street”.
"It will also feature an entertainment area and stage for live music — we have also asked for nice weather!"
Shanklin Regatta will still hold the family free shore sports, including tug of war; races and the ever popular egg and spoon on Hope beach.
The people formerly known as 'Beauty Queens' will now be referred to as 'the Princess and Princes'.
Any traders wishing to apply to have a stand at the 2024 event can apply for a pitch on the following link from Saturday (February 17).
