A teenage scooter rider from the Isle of Wight has qualified for the Annual World Scooter Championships, after a staggering performance in the European Finals in Germany - but he needs our help.
15 year old Joe Crockett came 3rd in Thuringia, Germany and now hopes to take up his place in the Junior Open in Sydney, Australia.
Up to 20 riders have qualified from around the world for the 2023 World Scooter Championships in each division.
This will be an opportunity for all qualified riders across the globe to add their names to the legendary list of riders who have already been crowned as the World Champion by the ISF since 2011.
Even at his young age, Joe has been credited with putting the Island on the global map in the growing sport of scootering after his run at the World Skate Games in Argentina last year. In the Junior final Joe just missed out on the medals finishing 4th.
Joe has been involved in the preparations for the new skatepark and pump track hoping to be built in Freshwater.
Sadly, due to safety concerns Freshwater skatepark had to be closed earlier this year. Although repairs are being made to get the park open asap it has meant that Joe has had to travel to other parks to train.
When Freshwater skatepark opens again Joe has expressed a wish to offer a workshop to teach local scooter riders new tricks and skills as a way to give back to the community.
Joe is looking for support for travel, accommodation, and equipment costs ahead of the big competition. A GoFundMe page can be found here.
