High Street shops in Sandown took part in a seasonal shop front competition highlighting the arrival of spring and a summer of activity on the horizon for the seaside resort.
Town Mayor Alex Lightfoot said:
"Thanks to the volunteers at the Carnival Shop, and all of the shops that have taken part, and for highlighting the range of services available for residents and visitors."
The competition also recognised the 40th anniversary of the Town Council, with the first Mayor Heather Humby involved, along with former Mayor and Heritage Champion Ian Ward.
A visibly chuffed Heather Humby added:
"Sandown has seen considerable change during my service as a local councillor, and, whilst there are significant challenges, we need to celebrate local businesses for their innovative and imaginative efforts."
The Town has recently enjoyed Bank Holiday Fireworks, an event at Los Altos Park, with the Sandown Sprint this weekend as residents gear up for a summer of activities, including the carnival and regatta.
