Ryde's Apex Calling For Islanders Seeking A Care Work Career

People on the Isle of Wight are being urged to consider a career in care by home based care specialists in Ryde.

Apex Prime Care, based in Ryde, has compiled a list of benefits for those looking to move into the sector.

1. Something for everyone

Care is diverse and there really is a role to suit everyone and their strengths.

You may wish to be in a direct care role, on the front line, caring in the community.

Or perhaps you’re better suited to an administration role? Our Care Coordinators bridge the gap between clients and the office, with direct care experience and excellent admin skills.

2. Making a difference

As a home care worker, you’ll make a huge difference in your client’s life.

You will work with lots of different people, from the elderly to someone with a psychical disability or you could be helping someone who has just got out of the hospital to get back on their feet.

Whoever you are caring for, you will be improving their quality of life, supporting their independence, and helping them remain in the comfort and security of their own home.

Each day you’ll leave work knowing you have done your best to help.

3. Development and progression

Career progression and training is extremely important to us here at Apex Prime Care, it means we’re shaping talented employees and their future.

In the past year, we have enrolled over 100 employees onto apprenticeships, from care professionals to administrators and managers.

For an employee, an apprenticeship means you’re learning on the job, gaining valuable experience, and getting paid.

For us as an employer, it means we’re shaping talented employees and their future. It’s a win-win!

4. Meeting new people and exploring your local area

Care in the community allows you to meet new people and explore the area where you live.

As well as your clients, you’ll be part of a network of carers and healthcare professionals to learn and grow alongside.

Some clients may need accompanying to appointments, or might just fancy a day out, meaning you can explore your local area and become an active member of your community.

5. We need high-quality care workers

It is estimated that by 2025, Hampshire Adult Social Care alone will be facing a shortage of 6,000 care workers to cover care needs in the community.

We need kind and respectful individuals to consider a career in care, no matter what background they come from, we put personal values and quality above previous experience.

Michelle, Care Coordinator, said:

“I started in the office of a care agency back in 2011 and they would occasionally send me out to clients, which I really enjoyed.

"Since then, I have been with a few care companies on both the mainland and the Island and still enjoy every aspect of care. In my previous role, I worked in the office, assisting with scheduling and rotas.

"I joined Apex Prime Care in May 2022 and have enjoyed meeting all our clients and working alongside our amazing team.

"I also have recently passed my NVQ Level 3, which took a while due to covid and personal reasons, but I got there and now have the certificate to prove it!"
