A yachtsman who received a head injury aboard a classic yacht became the object of a rescue operation by Cowes RNLI lifeboat yesterday (Thursday).
The man was apparently hit by the yacht’s boom, and the lifeboat met the yacht in mid-Solent, between Osborne Bay and Lee on Solent.
The lifeboat took the man, who was conscious, to Trinity Landing at Cowes where after being seen by a local doctor was then driven by car to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.
The lifeboat launched at 1.45 pm and returned to station at 2.25pm.
