Spectators who prefer to enjoy carnival parades without loud noise from bands and floats are invited to a 'Quiet Zone' at Sandown Illuminated Carnival tonight (Wednesday).
Music and sound will be turned down when the procession passes along Royal Crescent, a 160-metre stretch of the route in the west of the town.
‘People who usually avoid parades because of the noise have told us they welcome the chance of a quieter experience, and we’re pleased to offer that for the first time’ says Paul Coueslant of Sandown Carnival.
The introduction of Quiet Zones at Island Carnivals has been supported by Arts Council England.
The Illuminated Carnival sets off from Sandown Library at 8.30pm.
