Newport's Orchard House Care Home Showcases Therapeutic Benefits of Music and Animal Interaction

Orchard House Care Home has continued its efforts to pioneer innovative approaches to eldercare by highlighting the profound therapeutic effects of engaging with music and animals.

Recognising the importance of holistic well-being for elderly residents, the care home hosted a special event to demonstrate the positive impact of these activities.

Residents were treated to a Karaoke afternoon, providing residents with an opportunity to immerse themselves in music and communal singing.

The event featured beloved classics such as "Pretty Woman" and "Stand By Me", fostering an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie among participants.

"Music has a unique ability to evoke memories, stimulate emotions, and foster social connections," said Kim Fleming General Manager at Orchard House Care Home.

"Our residents thoroughly enjoyed the karaoke session, expressing themselves through song and relishing the shared experience."

In addition to musical engagement, Orchard House Care Home incorporated animal therapy into the event.

Residents had the pleasure of interacting with Chelsea, a therapy dog known for her gentle demeanour and comforting presence.

The furry companion provided residents with moments of relaxation and affection, enhancing their overall well-being.

Kim Concluded:

"We believe in the therapeutic benefits of animal interaction.
