Newport Book Signing For Isle Of Wight Doctor Turned Author

An Isle of Wight doctor turned acclaimed author will be signing copies of his book in Newport this weekend.

Dr Gos Jilani's debut novel "The Doctor from Bombay" received a string of five star reviews and was chosen as Book of the Month for July 2023 by Sunday Times best selling author Lady Dawn Annandale in International Magazine.

The novel is contemporary fiction with a love story at the heart of it.

The good doctor, based in Wootton, will be hosting a book signing for his novel at Waterstones in Newport tomorrow (Saturday) from 11am.

He told Isle of Wight Radio:

"I was inspired to write the book by my time in the NHS — there were a few things going on which I didn't really like, and they motivated me to share that aspect of the story.

"There are elements of my life experiences coupled with the thread of a love story, which makes for an intriguing juxtaposition.

"The main character comes from a totally different environment to work in the UK and it looks at the challenges of adapting to this new world presented to him.

"I enjoyed the process of writing my debut novel and the feedback has been incredible. There's a sequel in the pipeline which I'm very excited about."

Dr Gos, who has been practicing on the Isle of Wight for over 20 years in his clinic, is also a respected musician who has performed at Glastonbury, Isle of Wight festival and Bestival among other events.

Copies of the book can be purchased online.
