Maternity staff at St. Mary’s Hospital welcomed a pair of New Year’s Day arrivals earlier this week.
Elsie Pratt was born at 5.05am, a daughter for parents Amy and Adam Pratt of Chale Green. She weighed 8lbs 15oz.
Meanwhile, Alexander Onwuka was born at a weight of 7lbs 5oz at 9.48pm on the same day — the son of Augusta and Ifeanyi Onwuka,
Adam said:
"It seemed Elsie wanted to make a quick appearance and didn't want to wait.
"We are overjoyed on the birth of our beautiful daughter, we're home now, mum and baby are doing really well and we can't wait to start the new year with her as a family of three."

Alexander Onwuka was born at a weight of 7lbs 5oz at 9.48pm, a son for Mum Augusta and Dad Ifeanyi Onwuka of Ryde.
Ifeanyi and Augusta told Isle of Wight Radio:
"His original due date was December 27 but, as we all know, these babies have a mind of their own!
"He is our second baby (first was a girl) and we are so excited for the new addition to the family."
A spokesperson for St Mary's Hospital added:
"The team at St Mary’s is proud to have supported welcoming Elsie and Alexander into the world, and wishes them and their parents all the very best for the future."
