New Bridal Shop Launches On The Isle Of Wight

A new bridal shop has come to an idyllic East Cowes location.

Named after the year in which the Island’s beloved Queen Victoria married Prince Albert, 1840 by Wed & Prosper is bringing modern bridalwear to the Isle of Wight with an inclusive luxury experience for all its customers.

Aptly located within the grounds of the old Osborne Stables in East Cowes, the boutique – run by locals Carrie Almond and Tash Elliott – brings collections to the Island from six carefully selected British and Australian wedding dress designers.

The pair’s vision is to create a space which is comfortable and welcoming for everyone, no matter your shape, size, or budget.

Carrie said:

“I’ve worked closely with hundreds of brides for six years now and the feedback I get is that they are having to go off Island to find the designers they like and have the experience they want.

"My dream was to open a wedding dress shop one day and I’m so excited to see this come to life! I hope we can deliver what a lot of brides are searching for, right here on our doorstep.”

The owners feel passionately about using local suppliers wherever possible, particularly since winning an Isle of Wight Lottery Loan which secured them the full funding required to set up the business.

The boutique will be the exclusive supplier of Island Bride sweatshirts in unique colours supplied by local business Mint & Wight.

1840 opened on Sunday September 17 and will soon be hosting the Island’s first ever Designer Event.

Further details and information can be found via the 1840 website.
