Monkton Arts Presents Island Born Musician Jake Rodrigues For Zany One Man Show

Musician and performer Jake Rodrigues is returning to his home town Ryde to present his unique one man show and it promises to be a night of silliness, bizarre cabaret and musicianship all rolled into one.

Since studying drama and music at college Jake has always brought a certain theatricality to his music and performance and has made a career from being both a serious musician and an entertainer.

Jake said:

"I have always approached serious music with good humour and comic music very seriously!”

This has led Jake to a fascinating variety of work from writing songs for children’s TV ( CBBC & Channel 5’s milkshake) to playing lead guitar with the award winning Punchdrunk/National Theatre production of Faust.

His literal one man band act has led to performances on TV shows alongside the likes of Michael McIntyre, Russell Howard and Al Murray the Pub Landlord, while infamously performing solo on Strictly Come Dancing.

Like his long term Island pals, JC & Angelina Grimshaw and Paul Armfield, Jake is an avid songwriter and this show highlights songs both from his acclaimed ‘Lucky Spoon’ album from last year and his extraordinary back catalogue of tunes and musical sketches.

The performance is on November 29 and tickets are £12 from Monkton Arts, Ryde.
