A prominent figure in the Isle of Wight charity sector has celebrated receiving an accolade for his contributions to the local community.
Nigel Hartley, Mountbatten CEO, has received an MBE (Most Excellent Order of the British Empire).
Of his award, Nigel said:
“I was very proud and humbled to attend Windsor Castle to receive an MBE from HRH The Princess Royal. It was a very special moment for my family and I.
“I dedicate this award to our entire Mountbatten family of staff, volunteers and supporters, who continue to be an inspiration to me.
“It recognises the extraordinary work of a team of people who continually strive to ensure our local communities have access to good and effective 24/7 care, even during financially challenging and unprecedented times.
“HRH The Princess Royal fondly remembered her recent visit to Mountbatten and spoke about the significant role hospices play within their local communities and how those local communities continuously raise money to keep the work developing.”
