Isle Of Wight's Footprint Trust 'Wins The Lottery' To Help Islanders On Low Incomes

Isle of Wight charity, the Footprint Trust, has received a grant of £25,000 to help islanders on low incomes.

Funding has been awarded by the Postcode Society Trust and raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

Serving more than 2,000 island homes each year, the charity provides a vital lifeline for Islanders struggling with the choice between heating and eating.

Senior Energy Guide, Petra Saunders said:

“This grant is such a benefit to our community. I was at a Foodbank last week and helped a couple with a young family save over £500 on their bills.

"Our energy phoneline is open during the week and our friendly team is here to help.

"We are so grateful to the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery for supporting our work”

The grant will help a committed team of trained energy saving professionals to provide home visits, telephone support and face to face guidance at outreach sessions.

The energy saving charity was set up in 2002 and works closely with other help organisations across the Isle of Wight to assist people in fuel poverty.

Footprint Trust actively attend over 100 outreach sessions per year at foodbanks, pantries, health groups, community hubs and children’s centres. The guidance they give is free and impartial.
