Grace’s Bakery has teamed up with the Isle of Wight’s creative network for young people, Brave Island, to run a label design competition.
The initiative will see the launch of baking kits with all the ingredients needed to make your own bread, cakes and more at home.
To make these kits a reality, Grace's Bakery and Brave Island enlisted the help of young creatives to design a cardboard “belly band” label to go around these boxes.
A spokesperson for Grace's said:
"One entry stood out, that of Emily Wright, aged 16.
"We particularly liked that she thought about how her design could be adapted to be used for multiple recipes and used two of our iconic products as her inspiration: the Mr Blobby Biscuit and Gingerbread Man.
"It was simple and still fun and we felt it would appeal to a range of ages."
Emily won herself a £100 cash prize and her design will be turned into a label and used on our baking kits.
Tirzah Brown and Camryn Staley, both 14, were named runners-up.
Alongside the new baking kits will be the launch of a new fund for primary schools towards the end of 2023 where local primary schools can apply for free ingredients to run baking lessons for their students.
Teachers will have access to ready-made lesson plans and resources to introduce their students to the joy of baking at home.
