A woman from the Isle of Wight is set to complete her epic backpacking adventure this week.
Emma Schroeder's two-year adventure began when she became disillusioned with the London rat race in 2021.
Filling a backpack and grabbing some vegan sausages, she started walking solo, clockwise, from Weymouth.
On the way, she began blogging and writing on Instagram and via her own personal blog.
Emma told us:
"I decided to walk around the coast of Britain because a little voice inside asked 'Why not?'
"My days were filled with starting at a big computer screen, only to get back to my mouldy flat and stare at progressively smaller screens until I fell asleep, counting down the days of my life until the weekend.
"My inner monkey was desperate to be out in nature and have an adventure, and the tiny voice inside me got progressively louder until I couldn’t ignore it any more.
"I bought a tent, quit my job, and set off — it’s been the most challenging and rewarding thing I’ve ever done, and my inner monkey is delighted I took that first step."
Emma plans to take her final steps of the journey at Old Harry Rocks on Saturday (October 7).
This is a trail of her footsteps during the past 700+ days (which saw her go through four pairs of trainers):
She plans to write a book about her mega trek experience and in the meantime see more of the country through some high adrenaline adventure.
Meanwhile, here's a slightly more sedate scene from Emma's travels:
Looking to the future, Emma said:
"My future plans include winning the lottery (after which) I’d love to have a little campsite by the coast filled with wildflowers and goats to tend the grass.
"The goats would inevitably end up eating all the wildflowers I’d worked so hard to plant, and the campsite itself would receive terrible reviews after the goat’s penchant for headbutting guests in the nether regions!
"That’s the dream isn’t it?"
