Island Band 5 Degrees North Shortlisted For Portsmouth Music Award Ahead Of Single Release

Teen rockers 5 Degrees North have been shortlisted for the Indie/Rock/Alternative Act of the Year category at the Portsmouth Music Awards.

The announcement was made live on Express FM’s breakfast show this morning, marking an exciting start to 2025 for the young band.

The award will be determined by a public vote and judging panel, with the band calling on Islanders to rally behind them by voting.

Voting details (once made available) and information on future events can be found on their Instagram: @five.degreesnorth or www.portsmouthmusicawards.com

Their recent track “Carvel Lane” earned significant recognition in 2024, reaching number 14 in the South Coast Music Charts’ Songs of the Year and topping the weekly chart.

It also gained over 20,000 streams and received multiple radio plays, including BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio UK and USA.

5 Degrees North are also gearing up for the release of their highly anticipated fourth single, Burn, this Saturday (February 1).

Fans can celebrate the release at a special stripped-back set at AAA Records in Newport on the same day at 3pm.

The event is free to attend.

For those looking to see the band live, they’ll also be performing at the Kashmir Fringe Festival at Quay Arts on Saturday February 8 at 6.45pm.
