Hovertravel is using World Refill Day today (Sunday 16 June) to promote the transition away from single-use plastic and towards refill and reuse.
Hovertravel is committed to helping turn the tide on plastic pollution, having seen the impact on the environment during their regular beach cleans.
Loretta Lale, Head of Commercial at Hovertravel, said:
“World Refill Day aims to raise awareness and we’re passionate about becoming the most sustainable business we can be.
"As evidenced by the awarding of gold standard status for green tourism from both Visit Isle of Wight and Visit Portsmouth, we are enthusiastic supporters of encouraging change.
"Being listed on the Refill app, since 2019, with free refill points at both our Southsea and Ryde terminals encourages hydration and helps to reduce consumption of single use plastic water bottles."
Hovertravel carries over 600,000 passengers every year with thousands of passers-by walking past their terminal Southsea on their way to Old Portsmouth, the beach or Southsea Castle.
In Ryde, Hovertravel’s terminal is part the transport hub which includes the buses and trains which serve the Isle of Wight, so both locations are ideal for anyone need to refill their water bottle.
