Hampshire And Isle Of Wight Air Ambulance Volunteer Recruitment Day

A life-saving Isle of Wight charity is looking for local residents to volunteer and help promote, support and represent its life-saving work in the community.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is hosting a volunteer recruitment day at Bourne Hall Hotel, Shanklin, on Friday (September 8) between 12-6pm, to provide information for people looking to make an impact in their community.

The drop-in session is open to local residents looking for more information and wanting to meet like-minded people who want to help save lives on the Isle of Wight.

Staff and existing volunteers from the charity will be on hand to give insight into volunteering and explain how each hour of support makes a difference to those in need.

Keith Wilson, HIOWAA Director of Income and Engagement, said:

“If people are feeling cautious about their finances and donating money just isn’t an option at this time, volunteering is a fantastic way to support a cause that directly impacts lives of people’s friends, family members, neighbours and colleagues.

"Our mission is to continue bringing life-saving critical care to everyone in our region who needs it. But we can only do it with support from the public.”

There are a wide range of volunteering activities available, from giving talks to local groups about the charity’s vital work to attending a variety of fundraising events.

Pilots, doctors and paramedics have so far responded to more than 1,000 emergency call-outs to the Isle of Wight since the start of 2023.

Including calls such as cardiac related incidents, medical emergencies and road traffic collisions. Each mission costs the charity on average £3,320.
