GKN Aerospace, the largest private employer on the Isle of Wight, is once again recruiting apprentices for its sites based in East Cowes as part of its commitment to developing the workforce of the future.
In recent years GKN Aerospace has focused significant investment on early careers and the development of new apprenticeship schemes, onsite training facilities and building relationships with local training providers including the IOW College and CECAMM.
Now with over 80 apprentices in traditional manufacturing apprenticeships like engineering and operations, GKN Aerospace also offers a diverse range of opportunities in other areas, including Programme Management, Health and Safety, IT, and Procurement.
Site Director, Garry Hernes, who joined the Company as an Apprentice more than 30 years ago said:
“GKN Aerospace has a long history of Apprentices going back over 50 years and today this remains a key part of the strategy to grow our business and create the skills and capabilities to meet the demands of a growing order book.
"This is an incredibly exciting time to join Aerospace, as GKN Aerospace and the industry invest in developing exciting new technologies and sustainable flight to developing the aircraft of the future”.
The business is looking to recruit 25 new apprentices to start in September 2025, on 4-year programmes.
Vacancies are now live for apprenticeships within the following departments: Operations, Technical, Programme Management, Health & Safety and IT.
