The Freshwater community came together in an extraordinary display of solidarity and support at the Freshwater Memorial Hall this past Friday night, hosting an event that was both a celebration of local talent and a fundraiser for the much-anticipated Freshwater Skatepark.
The evening featured the thrilling adventure film "Savage Waters," captivating the audience with tales of daring and exploration.
Adding to the ambiance, local teenage sensation Martha Eggleton and friends and the renowned rock band Hashtag performed, filling the hall with vibrant music and energy.
The event also saw a raffle and an online auction with prizes generously donated by local businesses, showcasing the strong community spirit and support for the skatepark project.
Through ticket sales, raffles, and auctions, £2,000 was raised towards the skatepark, marking a significant step forward in bringing the project to life.
A spokesperson for Freshwater Parish Council said:
"The Freshwater Parish Council extends its heartfelt gratitude to all attendees and participants.
"Thank you to our major sponsors: Camp Bestival; Slow Motion Sauna; Eddie’s Surf Academy; Bird & Wolf; LJT Jewellery; Rapanui; Wight Trash; Canopy Skate Park; Sugar & Spice Lingerie; Mermaid Gin; JR Zone and West Wight Sports Centre for their generosity and support.
"Your contributions have not only brought us closer to realising the skatepark but have also reinforced the strength and unity of our community."
