A husband-wife team are hoping to bring a new ethical direction to a Wootton farm after taking the reins this month.
Edd and Laura Devereux-Pilkington, the Directors of Wild Oak Farm, have taken on the lease for the Dores Hill site.
The couple are first generation farmers who successfully produce and supply ethically farmed meats and eggs across the Island already.
Upon this success they have now acquired the lease for Dores Hill in the new year to expand their business into a farm shop & café as well as an antiques & collectables emporium.
The farm shop will stock produce consisting of 100% grass fed, pasture raised beef and Lamb.
Edd and Laura use a mix of regenerative and permaculture methods to sustainably farm, eliminating the need for pesticides, herbicides, and other harmful chemicals to force yields/growth.
In turn all our livestock has been selected with this in mind to work in harmony with the land and aiding in the build-up of healthy soils and its ecosystems.
Edd said:
“We are looking forward to welcoming people for days out on the farm either through way of our 'Be a farmer for the day' initiative or to 'Open Farm Sunday'.
"The Farm shop & Emporium is another string to the diversification Wild Oak Farm is implementing with the hopes for more engagement with the public.
"We also hope to share what we are learning along the way, both the struggles and rewarding moments."
