An Island-based equestrian star has made her mark on the national stage — with a little help from her friends.
Alison Heywood, riding the talented Friesian horse Thomas K, owned by Kate Hobart, achieved an impressive fourth place finish at the National Dressage competition.
The trio have become ambassadors for Friesian horses in dressage, having previously qualified for regional competitions and clinched victory at the same level.
Kate told Isle of Wight Radio:
“I had always wanted a Friesian and so when I had to retire my old warmblood the time had come to find one.
"Alison has been my trainer for some time and it was clear she had to be the one to come to Holland with me on my (scouting trip).
"As it happens, Thomas was the first (horse we saw) and it was an instant 'yes' for both of us!"
The national performance follows a hot streak of success for the trio.
In addition to winning area and regional championships at each level, they qualified for the championship finals on multiple occasions.
Last year saw them become Petplan Elementary Freestyle silver champions at Arena UK.
They are now looking for sponsorship to build upon their success so far.
