Debut Single A Thing Of Beauty For Isle Of Wight's Ugly Ozo

An Isle of Wight band known for their high octane live performances have released their debut single.

Fronted by Isle of Wight-born Jess Baker alongside her younger sister Boo, Ugly Ozo's debut track "Remains" has been released via cult Portsmouth label Strong Island Recordings.

The label has also been responsible for early offerings from Ugly, Rosie Alena and Anona (The New Eves).

Debut single ‘Remains’ tells a gutsy tale of betrayal and revenge via a sonic blend of Breeders-esque alt-rock anthems and Pretty Sick’s steely grunge.

The track has been mixed by Guy Page (Coach Party), and accompanied by an occultic music video of church altars, grave digging, tarot cards and circle candles.

Jess said:

"Remains embodies the intensity of emotions stirred by betrayal and injustice.

"Drawing inspiration from personal experiences, Ugly Ozo channels the tumultuous journey of confronting a man who has wronged her in a pursuit for truth and vengeance.

"Through haunting melodies and eerie surf guitars, ‘Remains’ captures the cathartic release of reclaiming power and seeking retribution from both the perpetrator and his allies. This song is a testament to the unyielding spirit of those who refuse to be silenced.”

Steadily becoming a regular fixture on the UK live circuit across past 12 months, often seen performing in fairy wings, Ozo's debut single comes off the back of a performance at the Isle of Wight festival and notable recent shows with Sunfruits, Hotel Lux, Shelf Lives, The Pill and ELLiS·D.
