Residents at Old Charlton House care home in Cowes got stuck in and made some delicious cakes for MacMillan Cancer Support's coffee morning.
While baking, they joined in sharing their memories of cake making during their lives, and lots of them remembered making eggless cakes during the war time.
Once the cakes had cooled, they had fun decorating them and admiring each other’s creations.
Not all the toppings went on the cakes – some just seemed to disappear – especially the chocolate buttons!
Once the baking was completed, residents enjoyed the age old tradition of “licking the spoon!”
The home held a coffee morning on Friday and everyone enjoyed the fruits of their labour.
Resident, Joan, enjoyed shaking the collection basket at everyone who came through the doors as the residents raised £25 and were rightly very proud of themselves.
Resident, Marilyn, said:
“it’s been a lovely morning, and the cakes were absolutely delicious.”
Activity Coordinator, Debbie, added:
“It is important for our residents to feel connected to the world outside of the care home, and this is one way that they can contribute to it.
"They all had a marvellous time and delighted in making and decorating their cupcakes."
