Superstar DJ and Bestival founder Rob da Bank is bringing a flavour of Scandinavia to the Isle of Wight this summer!
The resident of the town, who is also a meditation teacher, has had the wood burning sauna shipped in from Lithuania, and it will open to the public from this coming weekend.
You can it along Freshwater Bay from 7am to 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer.
Rob told Isle of Wight Radio:
"My wife Josie and I saw the whole sauna craze across Europe and we're really interested in the whole wellness factor of it.
"We like Wim Hof and the sauna/ice bath, hot/cold thing, so we started looking into it and a friend said they could get us a sauna from Lithuania - a few weeks later this lovely looking wood fired thing turned up!
"It's a chance to improve your mental and physical health. The idea is you get in the sauna, then into the sea, then back in the sauna."
Sauna is a Scandinavian tradition which dates back thousands of years.
Studies have shown it has health benefits such as improving cardiovascular health, reducing stress and anxiety, and relieving pain.
Rob added:
"The sauna has health benefits, and it's also great for building community - on a (free taster day) we had this amazing cross section of people getting involved.
"Some people will want to come for the solitude and to look at the beautiful view as well.
"It has this lovely mirrored window where you can look out but nobody can see in, it's as if you're viewing a postcard of Freshwater Bay"
Open on Saturdays and Sundays between 7am and 6pm throughout July and August, bookings will be available via scheduled 45-minute appointments.
The sauna can be booked as a group or individually.
