Band Of Recorders Set For Date At Ryde's Monkton Arts

A group of friends will join forces to bring sweet woodwind sounds to a Ryde venue next week.

The Band of Recorders — Eric Johnson, Theresa Ellis and Nick Martin — have been enjoying making music on recorders since 2014.

Now the trio are bringing their talents to a free evening at Monkton Arts on Wednesday July 26 from 6.30pm.

Here's some footage of one of their rehearsals:

This ancient range of instruments creates pure yet complex sounds which help the listener focus on the beauty and intricacy of the composition.

It is equally affective as a solo instrument or in ensemble, accompanied or not.

Nick Martin, who has also appeared in a music video for OK Go and is a celebrated artist in his own right, said:

"Our repertoire includes music from the 16th century to the present day; Elizabethan writers, baroque, classical, folk song and dance arrangements and contemporary pieces.

"Visitors to the gig can expect works from Gibbons, Handel, Haydn, Marg Hall and Glen Shannon amongst others."
