Alex Cuts The Ribbon At New St George's Gate Playground

A new children's playground has been given the official thumbs up by its first user, after being opened at St George's Gate.

Representatives from David Wilson Homes joined Councillor Lora Peacey-Wilcox and the Chair of Newport and Carisbrooke Community Council, Andrew Garratt at the new park in Shide... but they didn't get to cut the ribbon - that responsibility went to four year old Alex!

Alex’s dad and assistant site manager Tom said:

"It was great to see the playpark opening on the development.

“We’ve been building here on the Island for some time and to be able to include facilities like these mean more local children like Alex will be able to enjoy them for many years to come.”

Andrew Garratt, Chair of Newport and Carisbrooke Community Council, said:

“It was my pleasure to be at today’s opening of the playpark at St George’s Gate, which we know will be really popular with local families.”

Councillor Lora Peacey-Wilcox added:

“It’s great to see more facilities like this become available and we’d like to thank David Wilson Homes for inviting us along.”
