Wight Noize Offers Chance To Play At The Isle Of Wight Festival

Wight Noize is offering talented Island musicians the chance to play at the Isle of Wight Festival.

The Wight Noize initiative was formed by Platform One College of Music, which supports developing opportunities for young bands and artists on the Island since 1999.

The idea is to support emerging performers who are actively seeking to take the next steps into the industry.

Wight Noize requires artists and bands to submit a form (details further down) with links to audio, video and online promotion.

David Pontin, Director, Platform One, said:

"There is no live showcase this year as we want to see how active artists and bands have been online throughout the pandemic.

"All submissions will be viewed by an industry panel who will carefully select acts that are ready to perform at such an iconic festival. Artists and bands selected will be invited to play ‘The Platform One Stage’. One artist/band will also be selected to open Sunday of this year’s Festival on the main stage. An incredible opportunity."

John Giddings, Solo Managing Director and Isle of Wight Festival organiser:

"Platform One College of Music has been involved in the Festival since its rebirth in 2002. Opportunities for young musicians at the Festival have evolved each year thanks to the commitment of John Giddings, who is one of the Platform One patrons.

"Solo, the organisers of the Festival are seriously committed to supporting young musicians on the Island. It is important to note that they have no obligation to do so and many festivals neglect the local community - not the Isle of Wight Festival, thanks to Solo.

"I am very proud to be a patron of Platform One. I think they do an incredible job of preparing young musicians for the reality of the music industry. I like helping people and my work with Platform One feels the right thing to do - they have integrity and they are good at what they do.’

"These unique opportunities for young musicians on the Island confirm the ongoing support of Solo, the festival organisers.

"Solo is extremely supportive of the ethos and work of Platform One. It is an amazing opportunity for young musicians to be involved in such a prestigious and successful festival."

David added:

"The industry panel will decide on one act that is deserving of playing the main stage on Sunday of the Festival. This is full VIP treatment as well as the opportunity to play on the Platform One Stage during the weekend. This will also include the production of a ‘behind the scenes’, documentary thanks to a new working relationship between Film Wight and Platform One."
