The free event has new organisers at the helm this year, following ten years of being run by the Footprint Trust.
On behalf of Newport Carnival and Community Events Association, Paddy McHugh has been the brains behind this year's operation.
Today will see craft stalls, commercial traders and a wide range of entertainment.
Medina marching band, Vectis Corp of drums, David Randini, Flash Kirby, Irish dancers and much more will be on offer.
There will also be vintage vehicles on display, fun fair rides and a pirate's parade.
Festivities get underway from 10am.
