The kind-hearted and beloved founder of an Isle of Wight charity has died following a battle with cancer.
Nikki Flux-Edmonds — founder of Kezi's Kindness — has spent years raising funds for children who need a little help to make them smile.
She set-up the charity after the tragic loss of her daughter Keziah in 2016.
She passed away on Friday afternoon (December 27), having being diagnosed in December 2023.
Her partner, Patrick Hedges, shared the news via the Kezi's Kindness Facebook page, writing:
"It's with unbearable sadness that I have to let you know Nikki sadly passed away on Friday afternoon at ten past four.
"She'd been in the hospice for eleven days, fighting as only she could.
"She was the Wise to my Morecambe, the June to my Terry.
"We chose each other and when that choosing is broken it is the most unbearable pain.
"I miss her so much already and I know I always will.
"Fly high hunni.
"No more pain and finally reunited with your darling Keziah."
Nikki was separated from Kezi's father at the time of the tragedy in 2016, but he continued to see his daughter and they would meet up.
In June of that year, while Nikki was at work, he killed six-year-old Kezi and then himself.
Nikki did not know how unwell he was and had been given no cause to doubt her daughter's safety.
Kezi's death rocked the community, leaving a lasting impact and an indelible impression on family and friends.
In the wake of her beloved daughter’s death, Nikki launched Kezi’s Kindness – a project dedicated to making Island children smile, and spreading kindness.
The charity helps pay for school trips, delivers treats at Easter and Christmas, and everything in between - and it does it all anonymously.
A memorial was held on Sunday (December 29) for Nikki at Bumblebee Garden in East Cowes - the play area she set up in her Keziah's memory.
This saw people tie ribbons around the playpark's fencing and leaving flowers in memory of Nikki.
The gathering was attended by Cllr Tracy Reardon and Cllr Cameron Palin, Mayor and Deputy Mayor of East Cowes.
There are hopes to fundraise for a memorial bench for Nikki at the park and raise money for both Kezi's Kindness and Mountbatten Isle of Wight.
