Island Has Talent Winner Takes Home £1k Prize Pot

A young pop/electronic solo artist from Shanklin has won The Island Has Talent — bagging herself the £1,000 prize winnings.

24 year old Emily Wild — known to her listeners as Emellia — studied for a degree at Platform One music college and has been writing songs since the age of 12.

After three heats of auditions down on Ryde seafront over the summer, the winner was announced at a live final on Sunday, August 21. Judges included Derek Sandy, best known for performing around the Island himself — as well as his audition on Britain's Got Talent back in 2019.

Emily said:

"I cannot believe I won. I feel so lucky to have such a supportive hometown and network of people that want the absolute best for me.

"I am so grateful to Derek Sandy for giving me this opportunity and I really cannot wait to be a judge for next year — how exciting!

"I am now rapidly taking bookings across the Island for live music performances which I can thank this experience for pushing me further with.

"I am looking forward to releasing new music this year as a solo artist and the response to my music so far has been so incredible. I am so excited for what the future holds now!"

Emillia released her debut single ‘Authority’ back in 2019. Her music has a synthetic and electronic sound and is available to download on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal and iTunes.

The Island Has Talent was started by singer, Derek Sandy, in partnership with Beach House Cafe in Ryde. It promised to show off the best talent the south has to offer — and invited Islanders to sing, dance or perform their talent in front of a live audience.
