“A Christmas Murder”, the latest book by Island author Mary Grand has hit number one in the Amazon kindle best seller list.
In the process, the story was ranked above books by John Grisham, Ann Cleeves and Jill Mansell.
It hit the top spot on Wednesday 20 November and reclaimed that position again on Sunday 24 November.
The book was published on 5 September simultaneously as a hardback, paperback, ebook and audiobook (narrated by Karen Cass) worldwide.
It is set on the island at fictitious Bishopstone Manor, a luxury country hotel.
The location is strongly based on Mottistone Manor which is a National Trust property.
Duncan Fern, editor of controversial tabloid The Daily Flame, comes to the island for Christmas with his family.
On the first night they are snowed in (it IS fiction!) and next morning he is found dead, seemingly from a heart attack.
Amateur sleuth Susan Flynn believes it is murder, and sets out to find which of the guests is the killer.
The book is the sixth novel by Mary Grand to be published by award-winning Boldwood Books and is the third featuring Susan Flynn, who has an uncanny knack for solving murder mysteries.
“I am thrilled to top Amazon’s best seller chart,” says Mary.
“I have always loved Agatha Christie books and in particular Hercule Poirot’s Christmas.
"I wanted to write my own Christmas murder mystery and it is wonderful that so many people are reading it as they prepare for Christmas.”
Locally, the book is on sale at Medina Books in Cowes, where Mary will be signing copies at the Cowes Late Night Christmas Shopping Event from 5pm on Thursday 5 December.
It is also available in libraries, along with Mary’s other books.
It can be ordered at Waterstone’s and other bookshops.
The audio version is on Spotify and Audible amongst others and the e-book is at Kobo, Google books and other outlets as well as Amazon.
