A project to produce 10,000 poppies for a Remembrance Day Display in Ryde took a huge leap forward last weekend.
On Saturday morning, volunteers knitted 60 poppies in Newport's St Thomas’ Square.
The idea — courtesy of Aspire Ryde founder Rev Heath Monaghan — is to cover the wall from All Saints, Ryde to the war memorial, with a net full of poppies.
Islanders are being asked to help by delivering their own creations to Aspire Ryde by the end of October.
Organisers have provided the poppy pattern for anyone wanting to get involved:
One ball of red double knit gives 15 poppies, plus you'll need some black dk for the centre and size 4mm (number 8) needles.
