The RSPCA Isle of Wight has launched a brand-new fundraising event for the Island

that the charity hopes will become a firm favourite with cyclists of all ages.

Unlike many challenge events, the RSPCA Red Squirrel Ride makes extensive use

of the Island’s network of old railway paths and cycle trails, ensuring that it is largely

traffic free, making it a relaxing and family - friendly day out.

Cyclists can choose between two circular routes – 34 and 16 miles - both can be

taken at a leisurely pace.

Says Branch Director Steve Backhouse:

“The shorter route is ideal for families and

new cyclists, whilst the longer option adds extra challenge and a few more hills.

"You can cycle at your own pace, taking time to explore the Isle of Wight’s glorious

scenery and beautiful beaches.

"Our checkpoints are strategically positioned for water and encouragement as well as tea and well-deserved cake."

The event will have two start points: For those on the Island - the RSPCA Animal

Centre at Godshill or if you’re travelling from the Mainland the ride begins at the

Wightlink Terminal at Fishbourne.

By joining the Red Squirrel Ride, cyclists will be helping the RSPCA Isle of Wight

with its vital work of rescuing vulnerable animals on the Isle of Wight and finding

them their forever homes.

This inspirational charity is independent and self-funded, supporting the work of the RSPCA locally.
