Best in Business Awards Party 2020

Isle of Wight Radio’s Best in Business Awards is back for 2020, celebrating all that is great about local businesses on the Island, while Isle of Wight Radio celebrates 30 years of serving the Island’s community.

To celebrate, Isle of Wight Radio are throwing a Best in Business Awards Party. Categories will be recognising The Best Island Pub, Best Place to Work, Hairdresser / Salon of the Year and Family Business. The awards will showcase entrepreneurship on the Island — and businesses of all shapes and sizes are being invited to enter nominations.
The main sponsor of this year’s event is Red Squirrel Property Shop. Charlie Panayi, Managing Director said: “Having been part of the Best in Business Awards in 2018, Red Squirrel was extremely keen to be the headline sponsor for the future event. We saw it as a fantastic event, something more personal and transparent to the businesses which is everything Red Squirrel are about. Its an extremely proud moment for the Red Squirrel team to sponsor this amazing evening.”
Isle of Wight Radio’s Managing Director, Claire John, said: “Having been broadcasting on the Island for 30 years this year, we thought 2020 was the perfect opportunity to celebrate the amazing breadth of business on the Island and to invite Island Businesses to celebrate at the Best in Business Awards Party.
“No matter what size or field, whether you’re a sole trader or have a factory full of employees, whether you are a 50-bedroom hotel or a little cafe on the beach, everyone is invited to enter. We can’t wait to celebrate with the winners in February and are thrilled that Red Squirrel have decided to support this worthy event.”
Nominations are now open and Islanders are being urged to nominate themselves or their favourite local businesses. Three of the categories will be decided by the Island, with a public vote, all nominations will close on the 16th January and then three public vote categories will be shortlisted and public votes will go live on the 20th January.

Cancer charity launches Frosty 5K

A frosty fun run for all the family will raise money for Wessex Cancer Trust on Sunday, November 24th.

The five kilometre run will be held on the grounds of Tapnell Farm, after it has been transformed into a magical winter wonderland. Runners will head through a succession of interactive displays, including a cosy log cabin, a 15m corridor of waving snowmen, an icy fog zone and an 8m Arctic igloo lit up by icicles. There will also be a Winter Village with festive food, Christmas music and a giant snow globe for photos. Runners will have the option of completing
one or two laps of a 2.5km circular course, so it’s not too gruelling for little legs.
All money raised from the event will go to the IW branch of Wessex Cancer Trust to help Islanders affected by cancer.
