Spread Christmas Joy Across The Island

The official Isle of Wight Christmas Toy Appeal is back, and running until December 14th. The appeal, founded by Island couple Deborah and Daniel Rooke, brings much needed Christmas cheer to the Island’s less fortunate children.

Powered by Bestival and supported by Isle of Wight Radio and The County Press, the appeal has gone from strength to strength, thanks to your continued generosity.

Toy Appeal organiser Deborah Rooke said: “Once again we are asking people to dig deep and donate to try and add some Christmas sparkle to those less fortunate this year. We totally rely on the kindness of others for this, and every year we are humbled and touched by just how big the Island heart is.  So please, if you can, donate a toy or, if you can’t, donate a few pennies online. Whatever you can do, we are truly grateful, and on behalf of myself, Daniel and all the people behind the scenes, thank you.

“Everyone should be able to enjoy the spirit of Christmas and all the happiness that it brings, including the children most in need right across the Island. So, we are appealing to your generosity and good will to help ensure that they’re not left out during Christmastime. Over the years, big-hearted Islanders have donated over 10,000 toys, and this year we are asking for your help once again.

“We’d be very grateful if you could contribute a brand-new toy, suitable for children up to the age of 16, at any of the Appeal’s official drop off points, between 16th November – 14th December. Once the donation points close our fantastic Toy Appeal volunteers will collect and wrap the gifts and spread much-needed Christmas magic to the Island’s disadvantaged children.

“Thanks to your good will and kindness the Isle of Wight Toy Appeal has consistently surpassed its targets across the years and has been able to make charitable donations to a number of worthy causes. This year the appeal target will be 2,500 toys and gifts. With Islanders’ abundant generosity we’d love to eclipse it once again, and help to make a real difference for the Isle of Wight’s less fortunate children this Christmas.”

Official Isle of Wight Toy Appeal drop off points can be found across the Island, including at the offices of the Beacon and Isle of Wight Radio.
