New Rib Pontoons for Yarmouth Harbour

Yarmouth Harbour has completed the installation of their brand new Rib Pontoons.

Finished on schedule in time for the Easter holidays, the new pontoons are designed for use by ribs and small craft in the busy lunchtime period; allowing them to enter the harbour and berth as conveniently and quickly as possible.

The intention is to increase the time spent on the water and in the town, improve safety for all harbour users, and reduce the time spent tying up. The pontoons will accommodate 50 ribs during the day and can berth 15 ten-metre vessels overnight.

Charlotte Hudson, Deputy Harbourmaster who project managed the installation, said: “These pontoons provide much-needed, safer, easily accessible berths for ribs and small vessels and are a vast improvement for the harbour. There is no longer any need to clamber up slippery steps or ladders on the dockside”.

Yarmouth Harbour has spent more than £1.5million on improvements in the last year.
