End of an Era for Hovercraft

The end of an era for Hovercraft manufacturing on the Island has been marked.

Griffon Hoverwork’s factory at the Duver has delivered its final hovercraft hull. The craft, the largest construction currently being undertaken by the company, is being built for the Canadian Coastguard.

Griffon Hoverwork, which has moved all manufacturing to its main site in Southampton, said it would still keep an expert presence on the Island in the Hovertravel engineering support section at Ryde.
