The Three Pillars of Wellbeing at Ventnor Botanic Garden
Ventnor Botanic Garden has a rich heritage of health and wellbeing stretching back to 1869. The Royal National Hospital for Diseases of the Chest once stood on the site where patients came to be treated and recuperate in outside garden wards away from smog filled London.
The history of healing continues today at VBG, combining the tranquillity of the Garden, healing foods from edulis Restaurant, and a range of yoga and wellbeing classes every day.
The Wellbeing Experience and YogaVibe 2017
One of the highlights of our wellbeing programme is YogaVibe from Friday 23rd – Sunday 25th, June. YogaVibe is a weekend designed entirely for your wellbeing. Whatever your intention when you arrive, whether total beginner or expert, you will leave this vibrant yoga festival feeling energised and motivated by the things you explore and discover within yourself.
A combination of ingredients will aid you in the practice of living mindfully: yoga classes and workshops, meditation, music and music therapies, food and nutritional advice and massage.
The peaceful setting of Ventnor Botanic Garden offers the ideal environment to escape the outside world and completely immerse yourself in your practice, guided by an incredible group of instructors from the Isle of Wight and beyond. Find out more at www.botanic.co.uk
A tranquil garden
The tranquil and calming atmosphere of the Garden complements the wellbeing experience at Ventnor Botanic Garden. We encourage visitors to wander the Garden, get off the beaten track, to explore and chance upon secluded seating areas, tranquil oases hidden from view and clifftop meadows with breath-taking views of the coastline.
Discover your favourite spot to breathe in the heavenly scent of the abundant flora, enjoy a picnic with the family or simply relax with your favourite book. With so much space to roam, there is always the opportunity for a mindful moment of relaxation and contemplation as you breathe in your surroundings and let calm wash over you.
Continuing our wellbeing journey, we’re delighted to introduce our new Head Chef, Brad Roe, to Ventnor Botanic Garden. He will build on our tradition of serving ultra-fresh cuisine made from VBG grown and locally sourced ingredients. Brad’s creative flair is in evidence in edulis Restaurant (open 12-4.00pm daily). Our Curator has selected unique and interesting vegetables to grow in our nursery beds and serve alongside our exotic mushrooms, micro herbs and salads.
Brad, a cookbook writer, is busy researching and experimenting with unusual ingredients from the Garden to create new tastes like Eucalyptus salt or Crab Pear Syrup.
To discover more about the Wellbeing Experience at VBG, visit the Garden – open daily 10.00am – 5.00pm; try a class, book a place at YogaVibe; or reserve a table at edulis Restaurant.
